Line and Copy Editing
My rates start at £0.012 per word (or £12 per 1,000 words) for line and copy editing. Final rates may vary depending on the level of editing required.
This service includes a thorough and detailed edit covering:
- Careful correction of grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors.
- Sentence-level improvements to ensure clarity, flow, and consistency of tense.
- Checks for repetition, clichés, and unnecessary phrasing.
- Tightening of dialogue and refinement of dialogue tags.
- Detection of inconsistencies, such as variations in character names, descriptions, or other narrative details.
- Enhancements to pacing and internal logic.
- Flagging of ambiguous or incorrect statements or facts.
Throughout the process, I work closely with your unique authorial voice to refine and strengthen your prose – ensuring your writing is polished, consistent, and a pleasure to read.
While line editing, copy editing, and proofreading are often offered separately, I combine these approaches into a two-pass edit for a seamless and efficient experience. All edits and comments are made using Microsoft Word’s Track Changes feature for full transparency and ease of review.
Proofreading
For a final proofread – focusing on grammar, punctuation, spelling, and factual or consistency errors – my rate is £0.006 per word (or £6 per 1,000 words). This service ensures your manuscript is clean, accurate, and ready for publication.
Sample Edit
I offer a free sample edit of your first 500–1,000 words so you can decide whether my editing style is the right fit for you. After reviewing your sample, I can provide an exact quote based on the level of editing and any formatting requirements.
